Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We are committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment where everyone is treated with fairness, dignity, and understanding. Equality, diversity, and inclusion are central to our values and shape the way we work with individuals, communities, and our staff.

We recognise and celebrate the richness that comes from people’s differences, including (but not limited to) identity, background, culture, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, disability, belief, and lived experience. We believe that embracing individuality strengthens our organisation and enables us to provide better, more responsive support.

We actively work to promote equality of opportunity and to remove barriers that may prevent people from fully accessing our services or reaching their potential. This includes challenging discrimination, addressing inequality, and continuously reviewing our practices to ensure they are fair, accessible, and inclusive.

Our commitment extends to our workforce as well as those we support. We strive to create a workplace culture where staff feel safe, valued, and empowered to be themselves, and where diverse voices are listened to and respected. Through ongoing learning, reflection, and engagement, we aim to build an environment in which everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging and has the opportunity to thrive.

Hearing directly from the people we support matters to us. Their voices reflect what supported living looks like in everyday life.

Josef

“I have been supported by Select Support Plus for over a year. I am an author and a sit-down comedian, and I really enjoy watching musicals. I do lots of activities with my staff, like going to the local disco and trips to pantomimes. I also like going to the pub and visiting my family. I love having a laugh with my staff, and I really like being able to get out and about in my car.”

Kate

“I am about to move into my own home. I am so grateful for all the work that Select Support Plus did with me so that I could move into my own flat. I have learnt how to live independently and how to manage things that I used to find difficult. I really liked having my own staff team and getting to know the managers — they were all really supportive.”

Early in 2024, my son Josef, and I, began the search for a new care provider. Josef requires 24/7 care due to his severe quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy. He uses a wheelchair and communicates with the aid of a specialized computer. Although he speaks through technology—think a good-looking Stephen Hawking!—Josef can communicate just as clearly as anyone else. He also has additional needs, including a catheter and a feeding peg, which meant finding the right provider for this complete care package was quite a daunting task.

Select+ turned out to be exactly who we were looking for. They are a small, client-focused company. They not only listen to Josef's needs but their management checks in with him regularly. If anything isn't quite right, Josef can let them know, and they ensure it is addressed.

All in all, the last 18 months have been a learning curve for everyone, but Josef and his new team are thriving. He is getting out and about more, eating well, and I finally have peace of mind regarding the quality of support he is receiving.

Family - Julian

My experience working with Select Support Plus has been very positive, with input from both management and core team members. They have acknowledged when things are not working well and asked for advice and have been open to collaborating with other agencies to give the best care they can to the individuals they support. I believe they go above and beyond to ensure client voices are heard and valued when making decisions about their care.
